Amelia came out of the house and quickly headed for the car. Derek ran out after her and tried to stop her. At first, he grabbed her arm, but seeing that she still wanted to leave, he turned to insults.
He shouted angrily and mockingly, telling her that no one would want to be with her, and that she should not be so foolish as to quarrel over a trifle. Hearing this, Amelia stopped abruptly and, as if for the first time, she looked at the man she blindly trusted and with whom she was going to tie her life together.
She felt disgusted that he thought that the fact that he was married was nothing, and she felt as if she had been smeared with mud. For two whole years, he had lied to her, and she had never suspected a thing. Barely holding back her tears, Amelia told her former lover to never call her again and continued toward her car.
