Elaine Paige originally played the main character Eva Peron in Evita when the performance was on stage in the late 1970s. To the audience’s delight, Paige reprises her role to sing one of the show’s most famous songs.
Dressed in a beautiful white gown, Paige takes center stage. She steps into the spotlight and flawlessly sings “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.” The audience is breathless as they watch her in wonder.
To witness Paige perform is so magical, that you will feel as if you are transported to another world. Her voice holds steady, and she hits every note as if she was born for that song.
As the music crescendos, she raises her voice to match it. Paige exhibits unbelievable control, keeping her high notes within a range suited for the song. What an incredible performance!
The tickets for this celebration were worth every penny just to witness Paige’s jaw-dropping number. It almost feels like you are watching Evita until the song ends when you realize the show’s plot doesn’t continue.
